Although he has now slipped into obscurity, his legacy blighted by multiple positive doping controls, Swiss postman Oscar Camenzind shot to the top of the sport by winning the Valkenberg World Championships in 1998. Aided by a talented team doctor and an ability to deliver on the road as efficiently as he previously posted letters, what is less well known is that the following year, in a snowstorm during Belgian Ardennes Classic "La Flèche Wallonne", he snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as he struggled to remove his tangled gilet with full winter gloves on. Leaving Italian legend Michele Bartoli to ride off into the distance while he fiddled with his gilet, Hommage au Velo suggest you dress and undress more elegantly should time allow.
